Quarantine Blues? Here is a Joy pill for your Heart

I bet it slipped your mind completely that today is Palm Sunday, it is understandable, we are under lock down, the news keeps coming in -new cases confirmed, thousands of people dying, more stringent laws being enforced etc, fear and uncertainty define each day and silently, prayers are going up to the creator for mercy on mankind.

I did a SOAPS (Scripture,Observation, Application, Prayer, Sharing) on Colossians 2 &3 and I pray your heart feels much lighter and hopeful after reading this;

Scripture: Colossians chapter 2

6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, 7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces[a] of this world rather than on Christ.

Verse 7 says continue…meaning keep doing what you have been doing- live your lives in him and be rooted and built it up him. Look at a life cycle of a seed, it first works on the roots before sprouting so it can stay grounded and once the roots are firm, then it comes out and is able to withstand all weather..you need to work on your roots too for this weather otherwise the strong winds will keep blowing you off your feet to wherever they please.

Verse 8: See to it…be extra careful, take heed what your eyes and ears let into your system, there is a pandemic, true but if from morning to evening all you are consuming is panic, terror, fear, death, hopelessness and you keep scrolling on and on and also sharing the same on your timelines for your contacts to partake of the same meal, where is your mind supposed to get sanity from?

You are what you read and hear on a daily basis and in case you didn’t know, out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. Maybe it is time you started supplementing your  daily negative ‘meal consumption’ with a little peace, joy, hope, goodness, kindness and laughter for a lighter soul.

Know what is going on around you, be informed- stay safe but also stay sane, your mental health is vital for your being. Sieve what you let in.

There is life after Covid19, consistently water your seed with positivity so you can bear good fruit- enough to share with the rest around you.

There is surely some good in each day, let your heart overflow with thanksgiving for this is pleasing to your creator. Count your blessings, it will redirect your mind. Thank him for life, you are still safe from the virus, for family, for friends, for technology- imagine this lock-down without the ability to communicate with each other, for daily bread -some people are starving…etc

Prayer: Colossians chapter 3

15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.

17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him

Lord, I thank you that you are sovereign, you are all knowing and you are good. You knew this  day even before it happened and in all situations we give you thanks. May your peace that surpasses human understanding guard my heart and mind, may you open my eyes to notice the good around me.

Forgive my grumbling and lack of faith in you, today I choose to be still and know that you are God and that you are in control. I let go of all my worrying and anxiety.

Help me to stay rooted in your word, remind me always that this life and time I have on earth is a gift from you and therefore I shouldn’t waste it. In the stillness, awaken in me the passions and desires you put in me, help me sharpen my skill in this season, give me wisdom on how to productively spend my time in the lock-down and how to balance it all. In Jesus name I pray and believe, amen.

Here you are reading this blog…*smile*. Keep the hope up, this storm will pass no matter how long it lingers.

Lastly, overdosing is allowed, if symptoms persist drop me a message in the comments section below and I will be right at your doorstep.

I am the Sparrow.
